It's Alive!

Well after 6 or 7 weeks FILM FIENDS is finally back in full action. Film Fiends dot com is officially back up and running after being down during that time. Design wise, it is the same, however there are many other subtle differences.

First off, most of our DVDs are gone. We're focusing now on fewer titles as we concentrate more on other items. We went from about 12 different sub-genres to just 5 (Horror, Cult, Nunsploitation, Cannibals and Out-Of-Print). We still have a few more titles to add but new DVD additions will be few and far between. Anything we get in the future will probably not be things you can pick up at Best Buy, Walmart or any other chain store.

The new items we're excited to announce is our exclusive line of framed 5"x7" Mini-Posters. We've got just 10 titles right now but will be adding a lot more soon.

We've got the same great t-shirts as before but now when you shop for them on the site, rather than view by size you can view by style. We find this way much easier as you just click on the style you want (i.e. Evil Dead - Ash) and then chose the size based on what's available.

Books and patches are still available of course.

Don't forget to "like" us on Facebook and check us out on our other satellite pages as well.

Stay tuned for more new products and other news!

New Orleans Alternative Media Expo Recap

Thanks to everyone who came out to the New Orleans Alternative Media Expo this last weekend. We had a blast and considered the experience a huge success. Many thanks to Antigravity Magazine for putting it on. We weren't really sure what kind of turnout there would be or if any Fiends would be in attendance but we were pleasantly surprised. Lot's of cool people stopped by our table, which was at a great spot in the warehouse, and besides making some good sales we had some great conversations with other Fiends about such topics as Alejandro Jodorowsky, Troma, Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, Blaxploitation, Video Nasties, the New Orleans Cinema scene and more.

Good people. Good times. For sure.

Special shout-outs the guys who put out the FEAST comic anthology who gave us extra copies to mail out with orders to our customers.

Check out these couple of photos. First is of Brooke before the Expo opened and the second is of myself, Nick, talking with one of the attendees.

To anyone in the New Orleans area who did not attend, you missed out on a great day! We will definitely be back at the Expo next year and look forward to doing more Expos, Conventions, etc in the area. All the exhibitors there were amazing and the diversity amongst the tables was great. New Orleans is easily one of the most talented cities in America and the artwork and creativity at this Expo was proof.

Product Spotlight: Anarchy and Alchemy: The Films of Alejandro Jodorowsky

Alejandro Jodorowsky remains one of cinema’s most controversial and influential film-makers. In 1968 his scandalous debut FANDO & LIS caused a riot in Mexico, forcing the Chilean-born director into exile in France. The following year his weird and violent underground smash hit EL TOPO dragged the hippy generation into the 70s, single-handedly invented the American Midnight Movie phenomenon and transformed its creator into a counter-culture icon championed by the likes of John Lennon and, latterly, Marilyn Manson.

ANARCHY AND ALCHEMY features exclusive interview material, rare images, and exhaustive chapters on all Jodorowsky’s films including the mesmerising cine-trip THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, the award-winning Oedipal circus show SANTA SANGRE, and the aborted DUNE project with Salvador Dali, Pink Floyd and H R Giger.

With further texts on Jodorowsky’s 60s terror-theatre outfit The Panic Movement, his mime projects with Marcel Marceau and his graphic novel collaborations with Moebius, and illustrated throughout, ANARCHY AND ALCHEMY is the first and definitive study of this enigmatic, elusive yet illuminating artist.

288 pages. First edition.
